Andy Martin
Coming from a musical family, trombonist Andy Martin launched his career while still in his teens. His technique and virtuosity quickly established him on the Los Angeles music scene. Martin has inuenced countless young players as an educator and has appeared at more than 100 colleges, universities, high schools across the country as a guest artist/clinician.
He also has been the professor of Jazz Trombone at the University of Southern California since 2013, in addition to teaching students at his private studio. A world-class jazz musician, Martin has led or co-led 12 albums. These albums showcase his collaboration with other top jazz artist such as the late Carl Fontana, Gary Foster, Pete Christlieb, Bobby Shew, Eric Marienthal and Wayne Bergeron. He has also had collaborations as a sideman on recordings with jazz greats such as Horace Silver and Stanley Turrentine.
He is well known for his work as a lead player and featured soloists with virtually every big band in L.A. Martin is the lead trombonist and featured soloist with Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band as well as Tom Kubis Big Band and was a featured soloist for the Bill Holman band for 15 years. He has appeared and recorded in bands led by Quincy jones, Louis Bellson, Jack Sheldon, Matt Catingub, Bob Curnow, Patrick Williams, Sammy Nestico, Poncho Sanchez, Tito Puente, among others.
Andy has long been one of the rst call musicians in Los Angeles legendary studio scene and has recorded on more than 350 major motion picture soundtracks and hundreds of tv shows and records.
